B&B Bike and Wine
BB Bike & Wine is a family-friendly space, a villa immersed in a fruit garden in inner Sicily.
Sissel Bakken and Salvatore Amico wish you welcome at the Wine&Bike BB in inner Sicily!
Sissel Bakken is a Norwegian tour operator who has lived in Sicily for more than 30 years. She is also a civil architect and likes to combine nature and cultural experiences with physical activities like cycling and hikes. She is also good in cooking with products coming from nearby!
Salvatore Amico is a veterinary and has always lived in Sicily. He is also an amazing bike mechanic and bike lover.
This couple has a big villa in inner Sicily, near Caltanissetta, they like to have guests and run Wine&Bike BB.
This place is a perfect starting point from which discover the surroundings and large parts of the authentic Sicily by bike or car.
On old narrow asphalt roads without traffic you can ride among gorgeous villages and meet their curious local inhabitants. The landscape is magnificent and archaic.
You arrive easily by bus or train to Caltanissetta from Palermo or Catania, and then we pick you up and drive to BB Wine&Bike. By car it takes a short time to arrive to all parts of the island. For example:
The Valley of Temples in Agrigento and its beach (30 min), The Villa del Casale in Piazza Armerina (40 min), The Madonie Mountains (60 min), Etna (80 min), Palermo (80 min).
The climate here is drier than near the coast, and the magnificent landscape is characterized by olive and almond trees, and of course durum wheat and vineyards.
WHAT WE OFFER:
Two double rooms, each of them has personal entrance and bathroom. They are located on the ground floor surrounded by a fruit garden. In addition, you have a common living-room with a tiled stove, library and TV, an outside kitchen and a sunny terrace.
We offer a rich breakfast with local products, homemade bread and marmalade, local cheese and other dairy products, fruit of the season, local eggs from free-range hens, black and green olives and of course olive-oil from the garden, homemade muesli, espresso coffee, etc…. Breakfast is served on a relaxed terrace with view over the garden, the Sabucina Mountain and Etna in the background. You can make packet lunch!
If you wish, we can also prepare lunch and dinner with local products.
We also rent bikes with maps and description of the route, so you can cycle by yourself. We rent them for half a day, an entire day or for more days. We also have available bikes with kids trailer and e-bike.
We have a medium sized fruit garden from which our guests are welcome to pick citrus fruits, figs, almonds, olives, pomegranates, mulberries etc.
It’s an amazing place where to stay for all ages.
